Again, this week I am taking you behind the scenes at Beson4. To better understand the ins and outs of an advertising agency, I’ve been interviewing Beson4 employees about their job duties, challenges, and triumphs. This week I had the opportunity to get to know Grace Walsh, our videographer.
What is your position at Beson4?
How long have you worked here?
It will be 3 years in December
Why did you choose to work in advertising/marketing?
I have a lot of friends who went into strictly weddings or events. I like that I have opportunities here at Beson4 to create amazing videos for a variety of clients.
What do you like about working in a small agency?
I love that everyone knows each other and we all collaborate on our projects. I think with bigger agencies sometimes projects get overlooked, but here everyone is included in each client project. Our clients can be assured that they have the whole team on their side.
Walk me through a typical day at work. What are your daily tasks?
It depends on what project I’m working on that day. If I’m out of the office, I’m shooting, and if I’m in the office, I’m editing. I also spend a lot of time finding the right music for my videos and buying the rights for them.
How would you describe your work environment?
I love working here; it’s a very relaxed but fun environment. My boss trusts us to do our jobs, and as a team we make really great work for our clients.
What aspect(s) of your job are you most passionate about?
I’m passionate about editing. I know what footage I have when I’m shooting but after I put it all together, it becomes something completely new. Editing can be time consuming, but it’s so worth it when you see the finished product and your client is happy.
How do you prioritize the projects you are working on?
I focus on what’s due first. It can get time consuming going back and forth on edits with clients, and prioritizing client deadlines is imperative.
What challenges do you face at work?
They say video is the most expensive department in marketing. So sometimes I am limited with the client’s budget and the type of production they want. Working within a budget is hard on both the client and agency side. It affects the location we shoot at, how many people we can have in the video and the length of the video.
What is your favorite client project you’ve been a part of? Why?
I really liked the testimony for our client Affiliated Veterinary Specialists. It was actually a lady I used to dog sit for so I got to go to her house and shoot her with her animals. I love dogs so that was really fun to be working on a project for something I’m passionate about.
Who would you consider your idol or role model in your field of work?
No one in particular. I watch a variety of videos for inspiration. I also really enjoy watching the videos made by people I went to school with.
What is your overall favorite thing about working at Beson4?
I love the people I work with. Beson4 has a team of seriously talented and creative people and I’m really glad I’ve had the opportunity to work here.
